An entity is any modifiable "object" in the game - Planets, Stars, Frigates, Capital Ships, Fighters etc. are all entities, as well as less obvious things like Abilities, Buffs, and Research subjects. As would seem fitting, most if not all of these entities are controlled by GameInfo files that end with .entity.
