Radiance Battleship
From Sins of a Solar Empire
No ship personifies the Advent‘s vengeful nature more than the Radiance Battleship. Literally bristling with varied energy weapons, it can unleash a torrential downpour of plasma bursts and laser fire. Those who endure such an onslaught have little respite, as the Radiance‘s axial beam cannon can cut a wide swath of destruction through enemy ranks. Extracted from the game manual.

[edit] Tactics
The Advent's Radiance Battleship is its primary damage-dealing Capital Ship. It is a good choice for your first ship, as it allows you to take advantage of most of the early-game tech. In addition, it can easily keep your other ships safe with its Animosity ability, though it is recommended to research Energy Absorptive Armor first, to offset the focused damage on the ship. The Radiance is capable of defeating any capital ship in a 1-on-1 battle due to its already high DPS combined with its abilities. Even with out abilities it is an awesome solo ship.
Detonate Antimatter is another good skill that allows you to deal damage to ships and structures using antimatter with a feedback effect, draining their antimatter and causing damage in the process.
The Radiance's "Ultimate" ability, Cleansing Brilliance, is a massive area of effect super-gun, and is best used on large fleets and/or densely packed structures. Cleansing Brilliance deals 2000 damage to its target, and an additional 1000 damage to any enemies that are near its path. This means that a single Radiance class battleship can engage and defeat entire fleets of frigates within a matter of seconds, especially if a sufficiently tough capital ship can be found at the back of the fleet to serve as a primary target for the beam (remember, the primary target takes twice as much damage as the area of effect targets).
The Radiance combines disturbingly well with the Illuminator class assault frigate, and, when supported by a few Iconus Guardians and some defenders, this fleet serves as an excellent assault fleet--simply sail the whole fleet into the center of the enemy formation, and let her rip. Vasari players in particular should beware this fleet composition, since the low ship numbers of the Vasari fleets means that damage will be much more focused, and thus, much more dangerous, than might otherwise be expected.
The Radiance also combines its abilities into a "combo". When all 3 abilities are in available it is good to start with Animosity. This will have all ships in the ability area to attack you which, in turn, Energy Absorptive Armor turns some damage (depending on level) into antimatter which can fuel Detonate Antimatter and eventually Cleansing Brilliance. This ship can beat any other capital ship on a 1-on-1.
[edit] Fighting a Radiance
When confronted by a level 10 Radiance ,or a Radiance higher than your own capital ship in the field at the time of the confrontation, run. Unless you have a large fleet on your side your capital ship will flat out die. Not even the mighty Kol or a Kortul of equal level can defeat a Radiance. First of all, if you have a capital ship higher than said Radiance, preferably a battleship at least 2 levels higher, your safe. However, if you confront a Radiance of equal or higher level than your own capital ship, you have no chance unless you have a full fleet behind your back. Attack it by attemping to drain its anitmatter. Afterwards you need to maintain the drain and hit it with all your might so it can't regain antimatter with its Energy Absorptive Armor. The Detonate Antimatter ability will rip your capital ship and any other anitmatter ships apart. If the Radiance has a fleet behind it just make sure yours is bigger or that you direct all your power on the Radiance and take it out first. A final word of warning: NEVER GO 1-ON-1 WITH ANOTHER CAPITAL SHIP WITH A RADIANCE! YOU WILL FAIL! Unless you are sure you will win because of higher levels or a fleet behind you.
[edit] Development
The Radiance's Cleansing Brilliance, as mentioned, had its cooldown increased from 75 seconds to 120 seconds in Patch 1.1. In addition, Animosity also had its max targets affected changed from 6/12/infinite to 8/16/32.

- These ships can force enemy ships to attack them, then reduce the damage by turning it into antimatter. Grouping one or two of these (two makes it so one always has Animosity up) with several Iconus Guardians and a ship that can repair it can make this ship nearly invulerable while sooaking up the damage that would otherwise be targeted at your weaker ship, which will likely result in their loss. This can make this ship a great way to save money by increasing the survivability of your other ships.
